GPGC End-of-term Gathering at Tai O ( 27 April 2024 )
On April 27, after a week of rain, the sky finally cleared. Professor Zhan Jing, Professor Tsao King Kwun and about 20 GPGC students went on an outing to the tranquil fishing village of Tai O. We first visited a cozy, family-style workshop to learn more about the process of making shrimp paste. Next, we traveled through Shek Tsai Po and visited Hung Shing Temple and Tin Hau Temple. We then walked along the coastline up the hill to the Tai O Heritage Hotel. The Tai O Heritage Hotel was revitalised from the old Tai O Police Station and still retains traces of the arrest chamber and prison cells. In the fresh and pleasant sea breeze, we climbed along the picnic trail to Tiger Mountain, overlooking the magnificent Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
At lunchtime, students and teachers gathered to taste local dishes and silky tofu puddings. After a full meal, everyone joined a workshop to make tea cakes. At about 4 o’clock in the afternoon, we returned with good memories.
